Mythology, Writing + Art | Grades 2–5
In LEGENDS & LORE, students explore the mythology, history, and folklore of legendary creatures from around the world while building reading, writing, vocabulary, and sentence-level skills through mentor texts, gamified instruction, close reading, and hands-on artmaking. Kids will connect ancient legends to the worlds they already love—from Minecraft and video games to books, movies, and favorite shows—while putting the screens away and making space for real-world discovery, imagination, and creativity. Along the way, students will have fun experimenting with grammar, sentence structure, conjunctions, punctuation, and complete thoughts as they apply these skills to meaningful writing. They'll build background knowledge and vocabulary, keep a personal Mythology Notebook, and create original pieces of writing before designing, naming, and building their own 3D legendary creature and writing an original myth or legend to bring it to life.
